Coalition Applauds Senate Finance Committee’s Effort to Improve and Strengthen
Recovery Audit Contractor Program
Committee hearing highlights importance of communication and collaboration
between providers and auditors
Washington, D.C. – The American Coalition for Healthcare Claims Integrity (ACHCI) today issued the following statement regarding the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance hearing, Program Integrity: Oversight of Recovery Audit Contractors, chaired by Senators Max Baucus (D-MT) and Orrin Hatch (R-UT).
“We commend members of the Senate Finance Committee for devoting time and energy to the Recovery Audit Contractor Program. Since the program’s inception four years ago, recovery auditors have continually improved their methods of curbing waste, fraud and abuse in our healthcare system – returning nearly $4.5 billion to the Medicare Trust Fund since 2009. The testimonies offered before the Senate Finance Committee reinforce our belief that transparency, communication and collaboration are imperative to sustaining an effective RAC program,” said coalition spokesperson Becky Reeves.
“Every American has a stake in the strength of our healthcare system. Our coalition will continue to work with providers, beneficiaries, legislators and program administrators to ensure the utmost efficiency and integrity across all healthcare programs.”
